To the fashion world, the Academy Awards is the chance for designers to pull out all of the stops. Our nominees and other celebs strut the red carpet amidst flash after flash of paparazzi cameras vying to snap the best dressed.
Though we were there in spirit, us B&B fan girls watched from throw pillowed couches surrounded by fancy party snacks and good company in our pajamas. Super fashionable, we know. But, hey, that’s why we watch, and that’s why the celebs parade around for us.
We loved this year’s gowns. From Rachel McAdams knockout silky emerald train, to Olivia Munn’s flirty Orange sheath dress; we appreciate them all (well, most of them). Here are our top 10!
1. Rachel McAdams
This August Getty Atelier stunner wins my Oscar vote.
2. Diane Kruger
I guess the “Naked” dress isn’t going away anytime soon. Awesome! Because we love this Reem Acra piece.
3. Rooney Mara
This sheer piece of perfection is absolutely amazing! The lace detailing on this Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress is flawless!
4. Olivia Munn
This oh so simple, yet fiery Stella McCartney dress has me rethinking my boycott of the color orange. The tangerine shade is fabulous.
5. Cate Blanchet
Cate fulfilled all of our twenty something, err, childhood dreams of becoming a mermaid. Congratulations, you’ve accomplished what we couldn’t. This Armani Privé floral dress is a daydream.
6. Alicia Vikander
Let’s just continue with this Disney Princess theme. Alicia became the perfect embodiment of a modern Belle in her Louis Vuitton gown.
7. Margot Robbie
Basically, she wanted to look like an Oscar: shiny and gold. We totally love it! Margot’s Tom Ford sequins dress deserves its own Oscar.
8. Chrissy Teigan
This mom to be in her Marchessa piece is a whole bunch of floral goodness.
9. Daisy Ridley
This Star Wars star cleans up good! We prefer this Chanel Haute Couture dress to the digs you wore on Jakku.
10. Charlize Theron
It wouldn’t be the Oscars without the color red or Dior, and Charlize does them both.
While the function of the Academy Awards is to honor the past year's excellent films, it's also an occasion to swoon over the night's dreamiest looks. And, in our humble opinion, these looks were just the swooniest.
